TextAvery ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Avery AI assistant service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Google Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

Basic profile information: Your name and email address
Google Calendar data: Event titles, dates, times, and attendees — we read your calendar to surface scheduling context and write back only when you explicitly instruct Avery to add, reschedule, or mark an event complete
Gmail data (metadata only — gmail.metadata scope): Sender, subject line, and timestamp from messages in your inbox. We do not access message bodies, snippets, or attachments — the gmail.metadata scope does not permit it.
Authentication tokens: To maintain your session and refresh access when needed

Service Data

To provide our task management service, we collect and store:

Tasks, reminders, and notes you create
WhatsApp messages you send to our service
Your WhatsApp phone number
Your timezone and location preferences
Usage patterns and interaction history with our AI assistant

                      Important: We access and modify your Google Calendar events when you use Avery features like auto-scheduling, rescheduling, or marking tasks done. We will never delete events unless you explicitly request it. We don't share your calendar with anyone else.
                    

How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to:

Provide personalized task management and reminders
Send you WhatsApp notifications for your tasks and deadlines
Improve our AI assistant's responses based on your preferences
Maintain your account and provide customer support
Ensure service security and prevent abuse

AI and Machine Learning

We do NOT use your data to train generalized AI models. Your Google user data and personal information are:

Used only to provide our specific service to you
Never used to develop, improve, or train general-purpose AI systems
Never shared with third-party AI training datasets
Processed only within our service's specific functionality

Human Access to Your Data

Avery never receives the contents of your emails — only the metadata listed above. No TextAvery employee reads your Gmail metadata except in the following limited circumstances:

Security and abuse: To investigate a specific security incident, policy violation, or abuse report
Legal compliance: To comply with applicable law or a valid legal process (e.g., a court order or subpoena)
User-initiated support: With your explicit, affirmative consent when you ask us to review your account to resolve a support issue
Aggregated analysis: When data has been fully anonymized and aggregated in a way that cannot identify any individual, solely for internal product improvement

Google User Data Policy Compliance

Limited Use of Google User Data:

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its additional requirements for restricted scopes, and to the Limited use of user data requirement of the Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy.

Gmail restricted scope: Our use of the gmail.metadata scope complies with the additional requirements Google imposes on restricted Gmail scopes. Gmail metadata is accessed solely to provide Avery's assistant functionality to the individual user and for no other purpose.

Affirmative Statement: We confirm that our use of information received from Google APIs — including Gmail and Google Calendar — complies with these Limited use of user data requirements. Raw or derived user data from Google APIs is used exclusively for providing personalized functionality to you and is never used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models.

Data Retention and Deletion

Google User Data

For data obtained through Google APIs:

Authentication tokens: Stored until you revoke access or delete your account
Calendar data: Event titles and times are cached for upcoming events (and dropped automatically once the event passes) so Avery can answer scheduling questions without re-querying Google on every turn
Gmail data: Headers (sender, subject, timestamp) for inbox messages from roughly the past week are cached so Avery can summarize what landed in your inbox; rows older than 7 days are deleted automatically. Message bodies and attachments are never fetched or stored.
Profile information: Retained while your account is active

Service Data

Tasks and messages: Retained while your account is active to provide continuous service
Account deletion: All your data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for 2+ years may be automatically deleted with 30-day notice

Your Rights

You can:

Request a copy of your data by emailing [email protected]
Delete your account and all associated data from our dashboard
Revoke Google Calendar or Gmail access at any time through your Google Account permissions
Opt out of WhatsApp notifications while keeping your account active

Data Sharing and Security

We never sell or share your personal data. Your information may only be disclosed:

With your explicit consent
To comply with legal requirements or court orders
To protect our rights or prevent fraud

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, secure data storage, and regular security audits to protect your information.

Third-Party Services

Our service integrates with:

Google APIs: For authentication, Google Calendar access, and Gmail metadata access (covered by Google's privacy policy)
WhatsApp Business API: For sending messages (Meta's privacy policy applies)

International Users

Our service is hosted in the United States. By using our service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the US, which may have different privacy laws than your country.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
